Simon Fairweather OAM

At 14 years of age, Simon joined the Strathalbyn & District Archers in South Australia in 1984. His initial interest was to go hunting but target archery soon appealed to his competitive nature instilled from his sporting family background.

Four years later at the age of 18, he won the visitors section of the USA National CHampionships with the only person to beat him was the eventual winner of the gold medal at the 1988 Seoul Olymics.

Aged 21 years, he became 1991 World Champion in Poland. As Australian Representative. Simon competed in World Championships 1991, 92, 93, 94, 95, 97, 99, 2000, 01, 04, National Champion 1987, 88, 90, 91, 92,93, 94, 95, 97, 2000, 01, 04. 1999 World Indoor Teams Champions. Sydney 2000 became the first ever Olymic Archery Gold Medalist.

His honours include :-
